Learn to Cross Country Ski!
Jackrabbits is a fun learn to ski program for kids aged 4 to 12 years old.
Saturdays 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
Little Red River Park
2024-2025 Lesson Dates: December: 14th, 21st
January: 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
February 1st, 8th, 22nd
March 1st
The fundamentals of balance, weight transfer, gliding, hill climbing, side stepping and diagonal stride are taught.
Older youth may be introduced to skate skiing.
(Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.)
Kids are placed in ski groups based on their skill level, not necessarily by age.
There are two beginner groups: (Bunny rabbits and JR 1).
(To encourage good technique typically these beginner skiers do not use poles.)
Kids under 7 who have never skied are encouraged to take Bunny rabbits.
Kids 7 and older who have never skied should take JR 1.
Kids in JR 2 should be comfortable on skis and be able to fall and rise without assistance and ski 1-2 km.
Kids in JR 3 should be comfortable climbing moderate hills and skiing 2-3 km.
Kids in JR 4 should be comfortable climbing steeper hills and skiing 3-4km.
Kids in Track Attack should be very comfortable on skis, able to climb steep hills, ski over small jumps, around obstacles
and have endurance to ski 4-5 km.

Jackrabbit Registration ($20 plus online processing fee) ******
Jackrabbit program and PA Nordic Ski Club Membership can be purchased online on zone4.ca.
A limited number of club ski and boot rentals are available.
